To bring the pieces in a Walking pieces relation, complete the following steps:
- Select the start element on the mobile piece;
- Select the direction on the mobile piece;
- Select the start element on the fixed piece;
- Select the direction on the fixed piece.
The eligible elements for the Walking pieces start point are Main points and Notches. In terms of direction, the eligible elements are Main points, Notches and Sections.
Once the steps above were completed, the mobile piece is translated and rotated to obtain an overlapping of the start elements and the tangents, in the chosen direction.
In the last step of the function, you can set the simulation step and start the sewing simulation backward or forward, using the Function steps buttons or the contextual Walking piece gizmo buttons on the fixed piece’s grain axis.
To validate this relation, click on the Validate button.
Tips:
- The fixed piece in a Walking pieces relation can also be a group of pieces in a Marry relation, not just a single piece.
- This relation is created on all sizes, not just on the base size.
- The pieces can sustain different alterations while being in Walking pieces relation.
Actions that can be performed on pieces in a Walking pieces relation, while maintaining their relative position:
- Continuing the simulation, using the contextual Walking pieces arrows displayed on the fixed piece. If the fixed piece is in a group of Marry pieces, the arrows will be displayed on the tangent point between the fixed piece and the mobile piece.
- Moving parts on working area;
- Changing the base size and performing grading adjustments;
- Adding points or technical elements and performing property modifications;
- Seam allowance and corner adjustments.
To dissolve the relation, click on the Exit from Walking pieces button.
