To create a dart using 3 points, complete the following steps:
Step 1: Select the dart-opening point.
Step 2: Select the first fixed point.
Step 3: Select the second fixed point.
Step 4: Enter the length for the peak reference point. This step has two options:
Perpendicular to the contour – the peak of the dart will be created perpendicular to the section of the point selected in Step 1, with the length entered in the Length field.
Given by selected element – when checking this option, you will be required to choose an element from the piece, where the dart peak will be created. The value from the Length field is computed automatically, being editable. Note! When the Given by selected element option is checked, the elements that can be considered references for the dart peak are technical points, technical line ends or grain axis ends and main points.
Step 5: Indicate the dart’s depth. The angle is computed automatically, as soon as the value has been entered in the Depth field and Enter has been pressed.
At the level of Step 5, you can preview the dart that will be created, the points selected in the previous steps being marked differently. Click on Validate to create the dart. Once the dart is created, when selected, its properties are displayed in Context options. Further information on ways to edit a dart are provided in chapter Garment mode functions, the Define dart function.
